LumaLink Support & Help

LumaLink Setup & Troubleshooting

Follow these steps to connect your phone to your computer, integrate with OBS Studio or meeting apps, and optimize your video streaming performance.

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Quick Connection Checklist

  1. Ensure both your Android phone and your computer are connected to the same local Wi-Fi network (or subnet).
  2. Grant LumaLink permission to access your Camera and Microphone when prompted.
  3. Open your desktop receiver or browser receiver and ensure the pairing QR code is clearly visible on your screen.
  4. Point your phone camera at the QR code to establish the instant WebRTC peer-to-peer bridge.

Troubleshooting Connection & Pairing Issues

If the app fails to connect or pairing times out:

  • Local Network Isolation: Some guest Wi-Fi networks or public access points isolate connected devices (Client Isolation / AP Isolation). Try connecting to a standard home or office private network, or a 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • VPNs & Firewalls: If your computer or phone has an active VPN client, temporarily pause it. VPNs may route local network traffic through remote tunnels, blocking direct peer-to-peer discovery.
  • Re-scan QR Code: If connection negotiation takes longer than 15 seconds, refresh the desktop receiver to generate a fresh pairing token and scan again.

Using LumaLink with OBS Studio

To use LumaLink as a video source in OBS Studio:

  1. In OBS Studio, add a new Browser Source in your scene.
  2. Set the URL to your local LumaLink receiver endpoint.
  3. Set the width and height to match your desired stream resolution (e.g., 1920x1080 for 1080p Full HD).
  4. Start the OBS Virtual Camera to feed the stream into Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Discord, or Google Meet.

Optimizing Latency & Video Quality

  • Use 5GHz Wi-Fi: 5GHz bands offer significantly lower interference and higher bandwidth than 2.4GHz bands.
  • Keep Display Awake: In LumaLink settings, toggle on Keep Display Awake so your phone does not sleep or throttle hardware during extended broadcasts.
  • Lighting & Focus: Ensure your room is well-lit. Smartphone sensors automatically adjust ISO and shutter speed, producing sharper frames with less noise in good lighting.
