This policy explains the YouTube page information the extension uses, the settings and activity totals saved through Chrome Sync, and the choices available to you.
Last updated: August 17, 2026
About this policy
This policy applies to the Audio Mode for YouTube Chrome extension. Web Dev NC provides the extension’s public product information and support.
You do not need to create an extension account or give us your name, email address, phone number, payment information, or Google credentials to use Audio Mode.
YouTube page information used by the extension
On https://www.youtube.com, the extension reads the current video identifier, thumbnail information, player quality, and playback state. It needs this website content to place the headphone control in the player, show artwork for the active video, request 144p, and restore the previous view and quality.
The extension keeps the current video identifier and original quality in page memory only while they are needed. It does not create or store a list of YouTube pages you visit, and it does not send this information to Web Dev NC.
Settings and activity totals stored through Chrome Sync
The extension uses Chrome Sync to save:
- Whether Audio Mode is on or off.
- The number of times Audio Mode has been started.
- The total time spent in Audio Mode.
- The start time of an Audio Mode session that is still active.
These records keep the player control and popup synchronized and display your Audio Mode session totals. Google operates Chrome Sync under Google’s Privacy Policy. The extension does not transmit these records to Web Dev NC or another analytics service.
Thumbnail and YouTube requests
When Audio Mode is active, the extension may request the current video’s thumbnail from YouTube image domains over HTTPS. YouTube already provides the video, audio, player, and related page resources. Google may receive standard request information such as your IP address, browser information, and the requested thumbnail URL under its own privacy policy.
The extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. All executable extension code is included in the Chrome Web Store package.
How information is used and shared
Audio Mode uses the information described above only to provide its audio-focused YouTube view, synchronize its controls, restore player quality, and show session totals.
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not use extension data for advertising, profiling, lending, or credit decisions.
- We do not transfer extension data for purposes unrelated to Audio Mode’s disclosed feature.
- We do not use external extension analytics.
Audio Mode for YouTube handles user data in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention and your choices
Current video and quality information stays in page memory until the extension restores the player, the YouTube page changes, or the tab closes. Chrome Sync retains the Audio Mode setting and session totals according to your Chrome account and sync configuration.
You can stop the extension from operating by disabling or removing it at chrome://extensions. You can also manage Chrome Sync through your browser and Google account settings.
This website uses separate analytics
The extension does not send analytics to Web Dev NC. When you visit webdevnc.com, the website’s separate analytics and hosting practices apply as described in the Web Dev NC Privacy Policy.
Children’s privacy
The extension does not ask for a user’s age or contact information. YouTube’s own age requirements, account controls, and privacy practices still apply.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the extension’s features, data handling, or legal obligations change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
